Jo Rowkins dipNT MBANT
Jo spent many years enjoying a healthy lifestyle before deciding to train as a nutritional therapist with the College of Naturopathic Medicine. She spent much time travelling the world awakening her own inner health and being inspired by different cultures and cuisines. She realised that the keys to health are nourishing, wholesome food, sunshine, clean air, fresh water, exercise and relaxation. Jo also believes having a positive mental outlook and minimising stress are crucial to optimum health.
Jo is also a qualified yoga teacher and has spent much time in India practicing yoga and meditation. She spent some time managing a yoga centre in Brighton, as well as managing a charity website for a natural health company. In her twenties, Jo worked in the fashion industry in a stressful environment with the usual excesses of city life. She understands the corporate world as she has been part of it.
The naturopathic approach to nutrition particularly interested Jo as it comes from the principles of treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. No two people are the same, so no treatment plan is the same for everyone. The naturopathic principles focus on "therapist as teacher", i.e. the therapist teaches and empowers the client to take responsibility for their own health - awakening their health potential by guiding them to make the right choices based on their current situation.
Jo is currently working from a cleansing and fasting spa in Thailand. As their executive health consultant, she is guiding many people through supervised fasting programs and helping them to make healthier food choices for when they return to their home countries. She is also running her nutrition consulting practice from there.
When in England, Jo resides in Brighton.
