Magnificent maca – a powerhouse of potency!

Another magnificent superfood to add to your super-duper stash of superfoods. If you haven’t tried maca yet, I urge you to do so.

Magnificent maca

Yes, I think maca is truly magnificent. It’s been enjoyed for thousands of years by the Peruvians, even though it may be a recent discovery for the likes of you and me. It’s grown in the Andes at very high altitudes where not much else can grow (4500m), showing its powerful, natural potency. The root of the plant is dried and ground to make maca powder, the most convenient way of accessing this super powerhouse of nutrients.

Why is it so good?

Maca is packed with minerals, fibre, carbohydrates and amino acids, containing calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and vitamins B1, B2, B12, C and E. It’s a source also of beta-sitosterol – a potent prostate protector for men.

Potency in a glass

Simply add a couple of teaspoons of maca powder to your morning smoothie or porridge for a great energy boost that won’t give you an energy drop later on like coffee can. It has a malty, pleasant earthy taste that combines well with all fruits, seeds and milks. Try it with almond milk, ground sunflower seeds, banana and blueberries. Sensational!
